Se encierra en un caparazón que ella misma construye a partir de restos de madera y difícilmente le veremos la cara, solo asoma un poco la cabeza para la conveniencia diaria, y otra vez para su estrecho habitáculo de reducidos puntos de miras.
El macho adulto es una polilla pardusco-gris embotada, pero la hembra es sin alas, con unas piernas muy reducidas.
The larvae of the Psychidae are quite unusual in that they live their entire lives in a larval ‘case’ built from debris.
The adult male is a dull brownish-grey moth, but the female is apterous, or wingless, and has much reduced legs, looking rather like a yellowish grub.
The males fly in the sunshine during June and July.
